About EngineeringStuffs

Jared Cuchapin, REE

Electrical engineer at a Philippine distribution utility, with hands-on work in power line design, substation design and system loss reduction. This site is where I share the methods, tools and lessons from that work.

What I’ve Worked On

🗼Power Line Design & Construction

Line projects and steel pole design, factory acceptance testing, and design standards. Many of the calculators on this site began as tools I built for this work.

🏭Substation Design & Construction

Transformer upgrades, new breaker bays at 69 kV and 138 kV, design reviews for larger substations, and standard equipment specifications.

🔧Operations and Maintenance

Metering testing and diagnostics, line maintenance, conductor upgrades and pole replacement programs.

📈System Loss Reduction

My current focus: technical and non-technical loss studies using load flow simulation and data analytics.

🎓Credentials

💬Why this site exists

Most of what I know about designing lines and substations, I learned on the job, from senior engineers, vendor manuals and a lot of trial and error. EngineeringStuffs puts that practical knowledge in one place: worked methods, calculators you can check your own designs against, and a free reviewer for the next batch of REE examinees.

Everything here is for educational use. Always verify designs with a licensed engineer and your governing codes. The views on this site are my own and not my employer’s.
